JUNE 21ST, 2011

Another average week for DVD releases, including the mediocre comedies “Cedar Rapids” (three stars) with Ed Helms and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules”, a sequel to the children’s book adaptation.

Many people, myself included, were excited for “The Eagle” and “The Adjustment Bureau” to reach DVD, but after renting them and giving them both just three stars, they failed to live up to their expectations and remained just average.

“Ceremony” with Uma Thurman falls flat, according to the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, “Elektra Luxx” with Carla Gugino, which is apparently a companion film to the flop “Women in Trouble”, which has about the same cast. “Happythankyoumoreplease” appears to have potential, with actor Josh Radnor from “How I Met Your Mother” fame taking the directing reigns, with a high potential cast in Malin Akerman, Richard Jenkins, and Kate Mara.

The television new releases this week are nothing out of the ordinary with “Medium” being about the biggest release. Nothing presents itself in the small title new releases and with so many this week, it will be difficult to wade through.
