Period pieces dominate this category and that is where “Jane Eyre” has an upper hand in this category. The problem is…  all the films in this category are period pieces, with the major front-runners being “The Artist” and “Hugo” just because of their Best Picture overtones. Though films like “Anonymous” and “Jane Eyre” could sneak in for a win, it seems highly unlikely. The costumes in “Jane Eyre” may be fitting for the time period but are on the rather dull side and just aren’t “flashy” enough to win this award.

Interestingly enough, Mia Wasikowska finds herself in yet another Best Costume Design nominated film, performing as the lead, Alice, in last year’s Best Costume Design winner, “Alice In Wonderland”. Also starring in Oscar nominated film “Albert Nobbs”, Mia Wasikowska is on a role, lining up with Michael Fassbender and Jessica Chastain as actors and actresses to watch in the next few years.
