For Your Consideration 2013: Prisoners

Screen shot 2013-11-02 at 3.53.26 PM

Never say never. The Academy loves to nominate Roger Deakins without awarding him and this year could be no different and “Prisoners” is the Oscar caliber film that could go either way, meaning it could either grab a few nominations and no one would be surprised, or it could totally be forgotten and that wouldn’t effect many people either. With multiple Academy Award nominees like Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Terrence Howard, and Viola Davis, it would be no surprise, especially for Gyllenhaal, to grab some nominations. Now, it’s not likely, but it’s still in the realm of possibility. With so much in the air, it’s tough to really tell whether “Prisoners” will make a mark, but with a strong David Fincher feel and the critics support, this could end up on the map with just a little push. Also, Denis Villeneuve’s foreign film “Incendies” was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2011, so do not count them out yet.
