Oscar Season: Boston Online Film Critics Association Awards

No two critics awards have picked the same Best Picture yet, with “Boyhood” and “A Most Violent Year” getting picks. Now add “Snowpiercer” to the list, yet another film (like “A Most Violent Year”) which was not really being talked about in the Oscar race. A personal favorite of mine, it would be great to see this get some nominations at the Oscars. There is especially something rewarding about seeing Tilda Swinton’s win for Best Supporting Actress and suddenly leads me to feel like the Oscars could actually swing that way. “Calvary” was another film no one had mentioned yet, grabbing Best Actor for Brendan Gleeson and Best Screenplay for John Michael McDonagh. And Marion Cotillard is beginning to form a consensus around her performance in “Two Days, One Night” that could easily start translating into an Oscar nomination.

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu gets his first critics award win for “Birdman” as does Emmanuel Lubezki for his cinematography work on the film. Edward Norton (“Birdman”), “The Lego Movie”, and “Life Itself” all grab another win. Here is the official list:
