New York helps “Carol” make a small leap in front of the pack heading into Oscar Season, getting on the board for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography. After missing out for “Far From Heaven” (2002) many people think director Tom Haynes is due some acknowledgement and this is the first step in that direction. Not surprising are the wins for “Inside Out” and “Son Of Saul” but what is surprising is imagining calling Kristen Stewart an Academy Award nominated actress (God forbid she wins!)
