Oscars Watch: 2015 National Board Of Review Awards

Knowing that it is a strong possibility that “Mad Max: Fury Road” could land as one of the nine or ten Best Picture nominees is actually really cool to think about. Giving some dynamic to the range of movies nominated, it would probably only land in a few other categories like Best Visual Effects or either of the Best Sound categories, but that and “The Martian” would really liven up the Best Picture category in the best of ways. Because even though “Carol,” and “Spotlight,” and “Room” are probably great films, they are all small films without that range of the other two mentioned. I’m hoping for a wide variety of films to be recognized this year, including “The Hateful Eight” and “Creed” to name a few. Here are some names that will not be surprising to see throughout the Oscar Season and on nomination day: Brie Larson (“Room”), Drew Goddard (“The Martian”), “Inside Out” and “Son Of Saul.”
