Oscar Season: New York Film Critics Online Awards – Spotlight

According to most who have any idea about the Oscars, “Spotlight,” so far, is the film to beat this year. Although I have not seen it yet, just from the looks of it, I feel like it might be a tough one to push through, but again, that is completely speculative. New York Film Critics Online give it the first big win of the critics season, with Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. It also gives Paul Dano his first big win for his work in “Love & Mercy,” a film many questioned whether it would make an appearance having come out so much earlier in the year. A consensus is building strongly in the Best Foreign Language Feature category as well as Best Documentary and Best Animated Feature, with “Son Of Saul,” “Amy,” and “Inside Out” showing up on almost all of the critics awards so far.
