Oscars Watch: 2015 San Francisco Film Critics Circle Awards

San Francisco presents yet another split between “Spotlight” and director George Miller that you have to expect this is definitely what people will be expecting come the Academy Awards. All the love for Saoirse Ronan and Michael Shannon should turn into Oscar nominations, but do not be surprised if Shannon doesn’t make the cut, because it almost seems too good to be true. Not sure “Love & Mercy” is making enough groundswell to be considered, but San Francisco continues to honor it. “Listen To Me Marlon” gets a win for documentary. We know “Amy” is almost guaranteed a nomination at this point, but the other competitors in that category are really anyone’s guess, so any critics wins are probably beneficial. Mya Taylor of “Tangerine” gets a win. “Tangerine” has been recognized by a few critics bodies, but it might be a little too on the fringe for the Academy.
