RESIDENT EVIL 7: BIOHAZARD || Yesterday saw the release of a trailer for the latest installment in the Resident Evil video games series. This time around, zombies or “mutant creatures” do not appear to be your biggest concern as the franchise goes first person for the first time in its history. Playing as Ethan, a character that goes in search of his missing wife and ends up in a derelict plantation mansion inhabited by what appears to be a cannibalistic family named the Bakers. Biohazard gives off more of the vibe of the Silent Hill franchise than Resident Evil, with tinges of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series. Resident Evil is known to take different steps throughout its series, however, as the last game was a multi-player based, tactical game that felt more along the lines of Call Of Duty than of Resident Evil.
Apart from the strange family, the biggest thing I noticed in the trailer were the graphics, which will be touting the 4K imagery and makes certain scenes, including the opening driving scene look as close to a cinematic movie as a video game has probably gotten. Furthermore, there will be plenty of spooky things bursting through walls, blazing cars with blazing bodies coming at you, and an arsenal of weapons that includes pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives, and yes, chainsaws! Also, if you have geared up your Playstation for VR, this will be playable, start to finish, with the Playstation VR Helmet, as to definitely scare the crap out of you.
Despite carrying the number “seven” behind the title, this is actually the eleventh game in the series. It will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on January 24, 2017.
