Many predicted last weekend going to newcomer Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, but Tyler Perry’s crowd definitely turned out and put Boo! A Madea Halloween in first place by almost $6 million. Fellow newcomer Ouija: Origin Of Evil took a distant third. Both Madea and Ouija will likely hold up through the Halloween weekend while Reacher could prove to dwindle up against Ron Howard’s Inferno next weekend. The Accountant and The Girl On The Train finish out the top 5.

The biggest drop this week was Masterminds, falling 11 points from number 12 to number 23 and at this rate, will likely be falling off the list altogether next week. Priceless also made a large 9 point fall down, but that one is a little less surprising as not many even know what that one is. The Birth Of A Nation continues its drop, proving that it likely will not have Oscar legs. For the third weekend in a row, Denial jumps up, having now gone from number 25 when it appeared on the list, up to number 14 this past weekend. You have to assume this will be the last week it can jump and 14 is the highest spot it will reach. The Secret Of Life Pets and A Man Named Ove both jumped up slightly, but Pets is a littler more impressive as this is its 16th weekend in release.

Falling off the list this week were Don’t Breathe, Bridget Jones’s Baby, and Snowden, while last week’s appearance of Harry Potter IMAX Marathon and Shin Godzilla fell off immediately as well. Don’t Breathe could easily see a Halloween weekend resurgence, so do not count out that one. The others are likely gone, unless more Harry Potter IMAX Marathons take place as Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is not released until November 18th. Finding Dory fell off the list once again and with its home video release just around the corner, as well as Trolls and Moana coming to theaters in a few weekends, this will likely be the last we’ve seen of the latest Pixar movie as well.

Next weekend will likely go to Inferno, which will be the only major release, offering one more quiet weekend before Marvel’s Doctor Strange hits theaters the first weekend of November, along with the animated film Trolls, which will combine to make quite the successful weekend. Inferno, however, will almost definitely benefit from that last quiet weekend.
