Box Office: November 4th, 2016 – Doctor Strange

This post is a week late, so don’t get it confused with this week’s Box Office, which also saw Doctor Strange take the number one spot.

To no surprise, Marvel’s Doctor Strange takes the number one spot with $85 million, continuing Disney’s record-breaking year. In fact, all three major new releases took top spots this week, filling out the top three, with Trolls making $46 million and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge making a decent $15 million. These numbers will likely hold for a bit, as Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which is two weeks out from when these numbers were released, is the only major competition for Doctor Strange. With those top spots taken up, that pushes everything on the list down for the most part. Moonlight was one of the only films to jump up on the list, as it continues to add theaters, while The Secret Life Of Pets also jumped, probably for one of the last times, as it will be released on home video in just a few weeks. Also, A Man Called Ove held its spot at number 20 after its 6th week. The Birth Of A Nation continues its rapid decent and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if it was off the list completely next weekend. Dropping off this weekend were I’m Not Ashamed, Disney’s Queen Of Katwe, and Mexico’s entry for the Academy Awards Foreign Language Feature, Desierto.
