ALIEN: COVENANT || 20th Century Fox and director Luke Scott (Morgan), son of Ridley, are really pumping out these prologue pieces for their new film Alien: Covenant which look to set up the characters of the upcoming film before the film actually comes out, with pieces released a few months ago called “The Last Supper” and “Meet Walter,” which set up the basic premise of the film and at least some of the dynamics between the characters. Now, the third piece literally connects the dots from Prometheus to Alien: Covenant, following the main character from the previous film, Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and her David (Michael Fassbender), as they embark to meet their makers on the planet that apparently the new crew are headed to in Alien: Covenant. Shaw fixes David and then goes into hyper-sleep so that they can travel to the planet. When they arrive, David looks down on some sort of civilization gathering beneath him and quotes “Ozymandias”:
“Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
From what we know of the trailer that is out for Alien: Covenant, the planet is all but deserted when the new crew lands and Shaw’s ship is already there in the trailer, thus explaining why the same alien creatures are attacking this new set of strangers. It was announced that Alien: Covenant will directly lead into Ridley Scott’s 1979 version of Alien, which started them all.
