New Trailer: The Hitman’s Bodyguard – Official Trailer #2

THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD || Ryan Reynolds takes a break from playing Deadpool and Samuel L. Jackson takes a break from playing a thousand other roles, including Nick Fury in the Marvel films, to deliver an action comedy that sees Reynolds playing a bodyguard for hire and Jackson playing a hitman with a bounty on his head and Reynolds being hired to protect Jackson. To fill the film with more antics, Reynolds and Jackson are given a history, where Jackson has previously tried to killed him. Director Patrick Hughes hasn’t done much. His first feature film was Red Hill, an Australian neo-western that he also co-wrote and then he went on to direct The Expendables 3. Now, here he is, directing two huge names in what is basically the Odd Couple with guns. Reynolds has played a similar role before in Safe House, as a young CIA agent that is put in a position to protect an international criminal played by Denzel Washington. But whereas that was more of a straight action-drama, this goes full comedy, complete with a scene of singing nuns. What is apparent, with a trailer scored by the song that the nuns are singing to the mock Bodyguard poster that was first released for the film, the studio is willing to play with the marketing and is going for a tongue-in-cheek approach which is often refreshing. Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek also star.
